THROWDOWN IN MONROE!
Ionia, MI (August 10, 2009) Midwest Monster Truck
Events invaded the Monroe County Fairgrounds in Monroe, Michigan on
Friday (August 7th) for a wild night of monster truck action with some
of the best monster trucks in the country. The packed house saw Avenger,
Amsoil Shock Therapy, Brutus, High Maintenance, Excaliber, and Samson go
all out in wheelie, donut, racing, and freestyle contests. The rockin'
event kicked off with Jon Zimmer in Amosil Shock Therapy taking home the
wheelie contest win against Excaliber and Samson. Jocelyn Perrin spun
High Maintenance into the donut contest win against Avenger and Brutus
with a phenomenal cyclone which sent the fans to their feet!
The MMTE team build a big "cyclone" style course for monster truck
racing. First out, Dan Patrick would set the fastest time of the night
followed by Amsoil and Brutus. After fighting their way though the
brackets on the long turning course, it would be Jon Zimmer and Jim
Koehler in Avenger in the final round of racing! The lights went green
and they were roaring into the first turn, neck and neck, over the cars
and into the air, and when the dust had settled it was Zimmer in Amsoil
taking home the win in a very close race! Zimmer thanked the crowd and
credited the win to Amsoil and Holbrook Racing Engines as he was
presented a trophy on behalf of the O'bryan family.
Freestyle would be wild as Jocelyn Perrin set the bar high with High
Maintenance, Dan Patrick followed with a good run as did Kristy Edge in
Excaliber! Wild man, Chris Bergeron in Brutus started off the big air
assault with some fantastic leaps and donuts. Not to be left out was Jim
Koehler in Avenger getting some crazy air and wheelies! Finally, Jon
Zimmer in Shock Therapy finished off freestyle with some nice air!
The now standing crowd roared their approval for High Maintenance and
Avenger as a tie was declared and both Jocelyn Perrin and Jim Koehler
walked away winners!
We would like to thank the Monroe County Fair for all of their help and
support!
Jim Koehler throws down one of the
most knock out drag out freestyle runs in his career. Sick air,
cyclones, and 2 massive cartwheels earned Avenger and Jim Koehler
the freestyle win at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam at the HHH
Metrodome!
